Home smoked salmon


A lot of households in Finland have their own smoker, so they fish themselves or buy the fish from a friend or neighbor and than put in in the smoker for about one hour, after it soaked in salt water for about twelve hours. My hosts served the salmon with cooked new potatoes and carrots, lettice and a dill-yoghurt dip. It was a tasty and wonderful light meal. 
This was followed by a blueberry pie. Delicious with vanilla ice cream!!!!

On the boat

And after dinner it is getting exciting!!!! We are out on the boat. I just love to ride motorboats. Louise’s two bigger nephews ​are with us and her dad is driving. We just have to lay back and enjoy the view and the sents of the water. It’s great !!!​​

A visit to Finland 

Just landed in Vaasa, Finland. A bit tired from the journey. My friend Louise is welcoming me. It is wonderful to see her. It’s about an hour drive to the community in Nykarleby, where she has a house by the sea.
We are there. It is beautiful and very impressive . It’s nice warm and sunny and the water glitters from the sun. I experience a very warm and familiar welcome. And the grill is already on. Sounds great since I haven’t had proper food yet today. What a nice evening. I’m happy and thankful to be here.
